I’m afraid I will no longer be updating PlayStation Vita Life and will be concentrating my efforts on My Nintendo News. I feel that you need to be passionate about a product if you wish to continue blogging about it and committing your time to it. Thanks to everyone who has visited and commented on the site. My Nintendo News will be running as normal so I hope to see some of you there.
Many thanks,
Sickr
oohhhh

I thought you meant Sony for a second lol
nah that won’t happen. despite sony putting out lackluster handhelds, they still have decent televisions and computers to fall back on, as well as the PS3, which is holding its own
SoundForge, Acid, Vegas…. they also have software to back them up.
ontopic: its sad to see this site go, specially since this was my source for vita news, thanks for taking us this far though sickr.
Stop spamming your site. Thanks.
It’s not my site, I’m trying to help lol who no longer has a source of vita news.
well at least you tried man :D found it strange that it wasent being updated as much as before
come on this was my source of info since play station blog don’t tell us much!!!
why did you put news paper on there???
You still getting a vita sickr?
why would you care about that? does it affect your life in any way?
Darn. Reading your e-mail updates is pretty awesome.
Every time I have free time, lunch time, and even before I go to bed,
I check them but of coarse, my major concern is Nintendo so as long as
I have that to look forward to, get the Vita out of the way and continue
your awesome job!
So, what site would you recommend me check from now on? This was one that I would check multiple times a day!
I would recommend some great websites, but sickr hates me and will ban me if I post it.
Here’s a good one http://www.joystiq.com/vita/
You ever use google? It’s a good way to find things.
Yeah, I use google, but I figured someone here might know which sites have better coverage.
vitalife.com was in pretty good shape last I saw it, and vita.mmgn.com is a great site; might be Australian (cultural gap, assuming you’re not Australian) but the community there is pretty nice. They have a Wii, 3DS, PS3, Apple, 360, PC, Music, and Retro channels as well so they’re a great source for news overall.
Never mind vitalife, can’t find the site anymore… it was a branch of NintendoLife though….
It’s kinda funny. You used this website as an example to prove you’re not biased and now you’re admitting you’re less passionate about it.
^This^
well it is kinda hard to be passionate when all the articles you post are either about games that are available elsewhere or about the vita’s floppage in japan (this week’s sales are under 20k). maybe the blog will rise once again after a western launch if things pick up for the vita
Well, if you’re really passionate about something, sales figures wouldn’t stop you from buying a system. When the 3DS wasn’t selling well, and it was annoying having to put up with the anti-nintendo trolls. But now the Vita is coming out, and suddenly it’s OK to declare a system dead before it releases in the West.
this isn’t about buying a system. it’s about a blog. this is a blog about the playstation vita, and so far the system is doing horribly. all these gloomy articles about retailers cutting the price, having to halve a shipment to france so they don’t clutter up the shelves there, and dreadful weekly sales numbers do not help a person be passionate, not to mention the fact that many articles here about vita games are also available on the PS3, PSP, etc, so that doesn’t help much either. sure, the 3DS started slow, but mynintendonews was about more than just the 3DS so there was still stuff to be passionate about, such as the Wii U and the upcoming E3 conference. news about the vita is currently slow, and whatever news comes up is usually kinda sad.
also, gaming journalism likes to say nintendo is doomed at any given moment when even the slightest thing goes wrong, so i hope you don’t mind me telling you to suck it up when people think the vita is going down the drain because it’s flopping in its country of origin
Plus this blog doesn’t get near as many visitors as mynintendonews.
@Andrew, mynintendonews is years old, the only way playstationvitalife gets visitors is through mynintendonews and there are barely any updates.
LOL wut?
Just because he isn’t passionate about this blog doesn’t mean he won’t eventually get a Vita or that he isn’t biased. Sickr has said before that he’s a gamer. Period.
Don’t read too much into this.
Also, try Vitagamr.com. It’s a cool little Vita site.
Being less passionate means he’s biased. If you’re more passionate about one thing than another it means you’re biased toward that one thing. Also passion is the thing that keeps you going when something does bad therefore he had no passion in the first place. The 3DS had troubles at launch but his passion kept him blogging about it. Also this isn’t the main reason I think sickr is biased. For example he calls it “surprising” every time Nintendo isn’t voted number one or if one of their games gets a bad review. Getting a vita doesn’t make you any less biased. Also I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being biased, we all have it but running a PSVita website doesn’t make you less biased.
Maybe if Sony didn’t release a handheld that’s bombing tremendously, more people would be pasilsionate about it.
People don’t care = sales suck = who wants to blog about it = shut the fuck up.
*looks up pasilsionate in the dictionary* nope, try again dumbass.
Did he ever actually expressed his intent to prove he wasn’t biased? Maybe he genuinely was interested in the Vita. Of course it is typical for people who don’t like Nintendo to automatically assume that other people who DO like Nintendo only entertain other things to “prove they’re not biased.”
Sickr here are some alternative sites for other PS Vita enthusiasts, you should help other members out by posting this.
1. psvitahub, com everybody knows them, update 24/7 upload videos, nice articles defo the number 1
2. andriasangcom Japanese but have some good Vita news now and then.
3. vita.ign, com good site, updates pretty slow but still ok.
Replace commas with dots .
Hey guys,
You can also check out http://psvitalounge.com. We’re just starting out, but we have a team of 3 authors and we’ll be posting often with (hopefully) a lot of good content.
Oh WTF! I post ONE site and it gets deleted, everybody else posts 3 sites and nobody cares…
I am posting this as a passionate SONY follower. In honesty, its sad to see a site with such potential to go. But now I feel as if someone must step up to the board, and I would like to help this site in any way. I would not like to see this site die, and if it means working for it, so shall it be. Sickr, I hope your hiring, because you just got a second mate!
Yeah, wasn’t there that 88 guy that posted here too?
Thank you kindly for the offer but I’m not looking to reopen in the near future.
Robert from 88 Central was unable to commit to the site as he had other commitments unfortunately.
I understanding you closing the blog for lack of interest. You’re obviously bias, and that’s what makes mynintendo news interesting to me. But I still can’t understand your love, or any of your lifeless commenter’s love, for Nintendo. Their glory days are over. They have been going down the drain not in SALES, since every soccer mom, retirement home, and 8 year old bought a wii, but obviously in quality. All they want is money. They don’t care about the customer, and that’s shown by the way they never listen to customers. Nintendo used to be innovative, but now they just throw out a gimmic to excite casual gamers and make money. So in short, PLEASE keep this going. Vita will get interesting as soon as it hits the states. PlayStation will always keep going and innovating in real ways because Sony has SO MANY products to fall back on. Nintendo will die in the next decade. Or atleast I hope it will.
I agree, the last Nintendo console I bought was the Gamecube.
ok that was hilarious. it took me five minutes just to stop laughing and start this comment. “all they want is money”? that sure explains all the pay cuts that the higher-ups at nintendo took for the 3DS’s sake rather than just dropping the project. and if you believe that nintendo doesn’t care about the customer, then sony must absolutely despise theirs in your eyes. nintendo launched a pricey handheld with barely any good games and had to lower the price. they made up for it by having many people take pay cuts of 20% or more (with Iwata losing half), an apology, and free virtual console downloads for people who paid original price, some of which are unintended for the general public (handheld virtual console was very asked for, by the way). sony had its PSN hacked, they pretended it didn’t happen for the first week, and a month later the issue was resolved. they made up for it by giving a few free downloads (for a limited time only) and spending half of their E3 conference apologizing about their lackluster security on the PSN rather than showcasing new games. also, a noticeable amount of vitas were really messed up, and sony REFUSED to apologize to the people who got royally screwed out of $250-300. yeah, sony cares so much more about their customers than nintendo. /sarcasm
“nintendo used to be innovative” oh that’s a nice one. if the things that the wii and DS/3DS did aren’t innovative to you, then i’d like to think that sony should be stale as month-old french bread to you. there’s a reason a lot of people go by the saying “nintendo innovates, sony imitates”. the wii was doing quite well, so sony decided to imitate that with the move, whose “glowing dildo” controller (as people have called it) bears a resemblance to the wii remote. and the vita? please. the only reason for its existence is to compete against the 3DS. it has the front and back touchscreens to give depth to what you’re touching rather than what you’re watching. so yes, sony is “innovating in real ways” by taking nintendo’s ideas, tweaking them slightly, maybe using slightly more current technology, and slapping them on the shelves. face it, sony doesn’t like to take risks like nintendo does. they just see something and copy it if it becomes successful. heck, they haven’t even changed their controller design since 1997! if that doesn’t show their unwillingness to take risks in the gaming industry, i don’t know what will.
as far as the vita getting interesting as soon as it hits the states, i say don’t hold your breath. the vita doesn’t have much to offer that isn’t available elsewhere, and it is selling like hot coffee in the desert in japan. it only took four weeks for sales to plummet below 20k from 320k, and there’s a little over four weeks remaining between now and its US launch, so i suspect that by that time, vita sales will have completely fallen off, and the project may end up being pulled beforehand. you may try to argue that the 3DS had a slow start in japan too, but they still managed to sell a remotely respectable amount during their time. even during the week of the japanese tsunami (on the 3DS’s third week), they sold 96k, which is a number the vita hasn’t even been near since its first week
nintendo’s not going anywhere anytime soon, but the vita is circling the drain and the PS4 might as well follow suit if it winds up being a rehashed PS3 with more memory and an $800-1000 price tag like people expect
hahaha, you’re hilarious.
Guys, if you want a real Playstation product, just get a PS3. The Vita will crumble hard, despite the fact that I’m still thinking of getting it, but at least I already have a PS3 for all the entertainment I need.
Or you could get both for maximum enjoyment thanks to PS3/Vita integration. I don’t think it will crumble, wtf?
Face facts. With the way things are currently going, the Vita is going to bomb and bomb hard. The Vita is way too expensive for the few confirmed games that people actually want to buy (Uncharted, Persona). Also, if your defense to this is “the price will drop soon like the 3DS!”, any notion of a price drop this early in the game is a pipe dream. Sony is hemorrhaging money after cutting their TV department, and the Vita, which is flopping in Japan, is being sold at a loss in the first place, so I’d wager that a price drop this early is a move that Sony can’t afford to make. Why else would Sony make people buy their special, extra-expensive memory cards instead of using more convenient SD cards? (ok so they’re not required for every game, but they sure are for Uncharted).
There’s all this, plus the 3DS factor. It’s cheaper, has games people want to play, and comes with a 2GB SD card in the system! Quite convenient. There’s also the fact that the 3DS got ahold of Monster Hunter, which is one of the main reasons that the Vita flopped in Japan. If things don’t completely turn around for the Vita upon its worldwide launch, it probably won’t live to see 2013, so the first Anonymous up there will have been right. Too bad that I’ll probably be considered a troll for “predicting that the Vita is DOOM3D”, even though it’s a somewhat founded claim unlike all the trolls who got free passes while making the outlandish claims that the 3DS was doomed (anyone who knows Jack about Nintendo’s history of handheld games would’ve known that Nintendo has too many successful first-party handheld games to put out a failing system. heck, Mario on his own with two games made a huge splash this holiday season)
@Myna
Cool, I guess it is doomed. It’ll fail just like the PSP, the PSP only sold 80 million units, that’s terrible. It’ll fail more than the PS3 which sold A MERE 60 million units. The PS Vita is going to bomb so hard, an OLED HD Touch Screen, a rear track pad, great build quality, quad-core, dual analogue stick system like the Vita should cost $10 dollars, $250 is a ripoff, especially since I don’t have a job and live in my parent’s basement ranting on how the Vita will fail. Oh man, Sony really messed up. /sarcasm, in case you didn’t know.
I’m just stating some facts here. If the Vita gets a similar reception in Europe and in the States to the reception it got in Japan, then it could very well fail. There’s no avoiding it: things need to pick up by a good bit for the Vita. Also, despite your argument, I still feel that $250 (or $330 w/ $60 game and $20 for the cheapest memory card or $380 w/ 3G version +$15 per month for cheapest data plan) is a bit much for a person to pay just to play PS3-style games on the go. By the way, spouting off specs shouldn’t really convince anybody of anything when it comes to gaming (just ask Japan) and it makes you sound like a rabid Sony drone so do try to avoid doing that in the future.
P.S. I wasn’t really predicting that the Vita was doomed in the long run, but that it would be if things continue as they are. I was just saying that it was a more warranted prediction than the predictions of the 3DS’s doom since the Vita’s Japanese sales are sinking a lot faster and Sony has far fewer first-party games to rely on if third party developers drop out due to bad sales. The Vita is really in the clutch right now, and Sony seriously needs their big campaign for the west to succeed.
@Myna
WTF? Where do you get your facts?? PS Vita games are $30-50 not $60. “Worse 1st party games”??? Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and WipEout got near perfect reviews scores. Playstation France has confirmed a new Monster Hunter game for the Vita, and Resistance/Killzone, Littlebigplanet, Modnation, and more amazing 1st party games are coming to the Vita.
Fail ps shita fail!!!!!
