Less than a day into the PlayStation Vita’s launch, the system receives its first firmware update; Version 1.50. The Sony Update Information page fails to specify exactly why the update was issued.
If you’re a current owner of the PlayStation 3 or PSP then you know that these updates are common and it looks like this trend of consistent firmware upgrades has carried over to the PlayStation Vita.

99% of those updates are just to make it harder for hackers XD
Yeah, I’m doubting there’s any additional functionality on the front-end.
Scary that they need an update already.
You know this exact same thing happened with the original PSP, the PSP launched with 1.00 in Japan which was easily hacked, then 1.50 was released before it even hit anywhere else and it added security.
I just want Sony to add the following features:
- Youtube app
…
Oops I didn’t realize that’s the only thing I want… The Vita has everything except that app… :D
